Thanksgiving and Christmas Decorations

We had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. We invited some of Chris' classmates over for dinner/lunch and pie. I wish I had some pictures of the day or at least the food. the closest thing to it was this. . . 

That's right, Our turkey looked like that. 

We had all of the normal fixens this year. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, rolls, cranberry sauce, yams, stuffing, and jello salad. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We watched a couple of football games and visited with each other. It was great, although I did miss having 50 people crammed into my parents house, we had a quiet house here.

This year we have so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for the opportunity to live here in Omaha. We are thankful that Chris is in Pharmacy school, and so grateful for our families. We are so thankful for our growing child. We have been waiting for our family to start for a while. 

After the festive day of Thanksgiving it was time to decorate for Christmas so our house went from the picture above to this...

 This is the first year we have used this tree that my parents let us use. It was fun putting it up.

 My mom and brother brought this nativity back from Mt St. Helens it was made from the ash from when the volcano exploded.

I just finished making this advent calendar today. Now we'll know how many days there are left until Christmas.

Omaha

We got all moved in and settling down. We finally got internet this morning and eventually got it all set up with wireless this afternoon. Now its time to tell you about all of the fun we've been having trying to figure out our new home.

We left Logan on Monday the 1st of August; Family, friends and neighbors helped us put all of our stuff into a HUGE moving truck. (Which is a funny story we ordered a 16' truck and a dolly to pull our car by the front wheels. We ended up getting a free upgrade to a 24' truck and a full car trailer. BLESSING it saved us money in the long run!) We (Chris' family, Chris, and I) headed out to Cheyenne to stay for the night. We met my parents at the Little America on the way. My parents, Chris and I stayed at the Air Force Base in Cheyenne and Chris' family stayed in town. Brianna was too young to stay in the housing on base so they were not able to stay there. 

We arrived at Village Green in Omaha on Tuesday afternoon and took a tour of our empty house before loading everything in. It was so hot and humid that all of the guys were hot and really sweaty. 

 We kind of just threw everything inside and decided to organize it later. Much later in some of the rooms.

 I didn't think we had so much stuff until  it was all inside.

 At least we got the bed set up though, someplace to rest. 

Everyone exhausted from the day. We couldn't have done it without them though.

After we got everything loaded into the house and had a good nights rest, my parents took us to set up a bank account for the HOA/rent. We did a little shopping, my dad helped us fix the dishwasher, (which is still in need of repair) and went to lunch. After lunch my parents had to leave to get back to WJ in time for the things that they needed to do, so we had to say goodbye. We could not have done ANY of this without them. They are the most generous people I know. Thanks again mom and dad.

It should be said that our house does not look as messy as it does in those photos above, but that's another post, as well as the adventures we had with Chris' family while they were here.
